At SDMS, we use MathThematics textbooks and workbooks in Math classes. In sixth grade, we are exploring Book 1. Our topics focus mostly on fractions and decimals.

About Our Classes

Each day, we complete an "exploration" from our textbook. Each exploration includes a hands-on activity--sometimes using manipulatives, sometimes using pages from our workbook--through which we discover something new about how math applies to the world around us. Following the exploration, we use symbols (operations symbols, numbers, and so on) to represent the math with which we have experimented. Every exploration also includes a set of homework questions so that each student can practice what we've explored in class that day.
